Last Meal
The other day I was browsing Wikipedia, reading about some of the most famous mass murderers in history, and it really got me thinking. Just what exactly, would I do? How would I act, were I in that position? That’s right – I’ve been trying to decide what my last meal would be.
There are many different foods I love. Flavours, tastes, textures, it’s difficult to pick just one meal with all my favourites, but after some deep reflection, I think I’ve come up with an answer: Greek.
My last meal would be Greek food, I think. I can picture it now.
SourceA lovely salad, to begin. Fresh oil, thick slices of cucumber, the sharp taste of feta cheese, all those other vegetables (and perhaps even some lettuce though it isn’t supposed to be the primary ingredient.) Of course, this’d have to be accompanied by some warm buttered bread, fresh from the oven.
Then, we’d bring the main course. Some might opt for something extravagant – a whole lamb, perhaps, or at least their seasoned innards – but not me. I’d choose the souvlaki. Chicken, maybe, or pork, I don’t really mind which. Some delicious flavoured rice, maybe some fresh green beans, perhaps even some potatoes, if we haven’t got too much starch already (but who cares about health! I’m dying anyway, right!). And we can’t forget some tzatziki on the side for dipping.

Finally, when all the dishes of the main meal are cleared away, we can move on to dessert. There are plenty of options, but what could be better than the perennial favourite, baklava? Dripping with honey, and stuffed full of pastry and nuts; so good it’s to die for (this is where I hear the boo, hiss, from the audience for that line!)After this, I think I could die contented.
What would be your last meal?

Haha I’d not be able to eat. But prob just a meal with everyone in my famliy would be amazing, we don’t do that much anymore….

a salad with a variety of greens, some wild..fresh herbs and sesame balsamic vinagrette with extra virgin olive oil
perhaps a filet mignon or salmon

I’m not sure I could eat a final meal.
I don’t really like Greek food. I’d rather have Lebanese.
This is actually something I’ve thought about at some great length. Not so much in terms of what I would want as my last meal if I were to be executed; but more of a what would my last meal be if this was just the last day of life, period. What it came down to was that it wouldn’t be something fancy. I could go off about hangar steak of kobe beef or monkfish liver or foie gras and white truffle; but if it came down to it, I’d want something comfortable — like Dad’s meatloaf with some mashed potatoes and gravy. Or a tuna casserole.
That sounds excellent. I’m not sure what I would eat.
Well I think I wanna try some Greek food sometime. it’s now on my list of foods to try.
Lobster and scalloped potatoes. Do they permit you alcohol on death row?

Hurray for Greek food! Good choice! I would suggest musaka in that meal as well. I would eat Greek as well.

Um. I have no clue. Maybe a whole pizza and oodles of deserts, since I won’t be around to get fat from those thousands of calories. Sweet tea from McCalisters or Chick-fil-a with giant lemon wedges are a MUST though.
all the dairy/lactose comfort foods I could eat as I cant now. Like cheesecake, mudpie, avalanches… as long as its chocolate, whiped cream, icecream, or creamy. Hahah who cares what my stomach will do to me later YAY.. and if They dont come to shoot me, I might kill myself for all the pain I will have to endure from eating it lol
Oh my gosh. Umm. Every delicious vegan food I’ve always been too uncultured to make.
I would choose any 10 course meal prepared by a great chef might as well take as long as I can right lol
- 2 16 oz cans of PBR
-2 50 ml bottles of Skyy
-spicy tuna rolls from Whole Foods
-Fillet Mignon with mushrooms
-scallops wrapped in bacon
I would ask for indian food, and now I really want some baklava, so that too, and cheese cake.

You thoroughly thought over this hypothetical situation. I would want to have something I have never eaten before. It’d be my last chance to try a new food, might as well take it.

Personally, after seeing a tv special or two on some serial killers I don’t think they deserve the right to choose their last meals. As for my last meal, my cravings change from time to time.. so I’m not really sure.
I am so hungry now.

Interesting article.. I would probably go with slow-cooked full rack of rubs (dry rub or plain) maybe Memphis style?? or I would go with Buffalo Wings (hearty ones) with ranch and celery. I am pretty easy to please with that…
I remember reading about prisoners last meals and was interested to find out that most of them ordered stuff like fried chicken, hamburgers, fries. Like, all fast food, haha. Mostly comfort food kind of things–full of carbs, grease, cheese, etc. I think I’d like comfort food too. Melted cheese definitely (in some form or other). Maybe pizza, potato, lasagna. Chinese food. Dim sum. Mashed potatoes and gravy. My mom’s cooking. Oh! Bah-tzahng.

A very simple enchilada recipe my mother taught me years ago: layer of tortillas, green chilies, cheese and onion (Couple of other things in the mix), guacamole, a small bowl of freshly roasted Hatch, NM green chilies, and some freshly made Flan… wash it down with a Negro Modelo… i would be set.

id probably want a Luna Park Western Burger. sounds funny when i say it and looks weird when you see it. its pretty much just a bacon burger drenched in BBQ sauce and fries. i want my last meal to be junk food. maybe even nacho’s
a JUICY T-bone steak and eggs… sounds plain and simple, but i would definately die happy after that.

Sounds as though you like Greek food. I’d throw some bread with taramasalata and a bottle of retsina in. I love retsina. Definitely an acquired taste though. For those of you who don’t know, it’s a Greek white table wine to which pine resin is added during (or maybe after, not sure) the fermentation process. This gives the wine a strong flavor that can be compared to turpentine, thus the acquired taste. One needs to get used to it and some never do. BTW, do not drink turpentine anyone. It’s deadly.
Food from all over the world can be great but the best meal I’ve ever eaten was a style of food from northern India known as Moghul (or Mughlai) cuisine. I’ve had it many times but I had the most heavenly by far when I was one of the guests at a mansion in Canada. The food was catered. Biryanis, Chicken Tikkha Makani, Rogan Josh. Like with any other cooking there is some not well made but there is probably no cuisine that contains such a fine mix of herbs and spices as found in Indian food.

i’m a HUGE fan of thanksgiving dinner… so that would totally be my last meal XD
i think i’d attempt tapas for maximum variety. squid ink paella and baked lamb orzo and yakitori chicken! and some kind of crazy dessert sampler with panna cotta and petit fours and baba rums to complete the meal! mmm delicious excess.

A steak. As rare as possible. Creamed spinach and buttery and garlicy mashed potatoes. And perhaps some sort of cream soda or coke.

I can’t think what my last meal would be right now.. thats a much too painful question to think about.. just love food so much and I don’t think I could just pick one dish or one cuisine. I love stuff from all different types of cultures.. but since ur on the Greek roll. I used to go to this greek restaurant with my mom and we used to have this baked spinach thing with feta cheese it was sooo good.. it was like crispy layers of baked spinach pie with feta cheese. it was like a square with layers of crispy baked dough with cooked spinach and cheese oozing out… that was sooo good… mmmmm…

Part of my family is Greek and we all love to eat. Dolmades never last long around us.

I’d do the Homer Simpson approach. Eat as much as possible, then when the electricity hits you, BOOM! Oh the mess. Would be glorious. It’d probably be Chinese food. I, like many, can pack that in like no tomorrow (pun intended).

I’d want a real Big Chinese Meal with 4 Large Springrolls , Curry Sauce , Fries , Noodles and Fu Yung and I’d force the lot down til I felt sick after cos I’d be about to die so I wouldn’t have to care about getting fat cos I’d be dead not long after so being able to eat what I wanted would be awesome

I actually read a really interesting website about famous last words by people before they’re executed after being on Death Row. And some of them are from people I study.
They’re completely split – Some are things like “I love you Mum” and “Im sorry for what I’ve done.”
But others are like “You fcking Aholes” and “Please oh Please have mercy!”
I had to study death row for my English GCSE course. Are you from a state where its legal?
