Australian Invasion
So something strange must be going on in Australia. For the last few days now, I’ve been getting constant footprints from Down Under. I mean one or two a minute, every hour of the day. I’ve had search engine crawlers and things come through before, but they’ve never been this constant. I wonder what this is all about.
Just to help make sure we’re all on the same page I’ve stuck together a few screen shots. The times don’t align, because I didn’t bother to make sure they did, but I think it demonstrates the persistence of my biggest Aussie fan.

Virginia stalked me the other day. Left like 700+ footprints.
There are a lot of crawlers that ignore robots.txt. It’s Xanga’s responsibility to blacklist known offenders; there are preexisting databases for this kind of stuff, but they don’t seem to do it. Had an open ticket thing on “xanga help” thing, did a bunch of research to prove that Exabot was known to ignore webmasters’ wishes. Never got word that anything was done about it.
The Aussies just heard how awesome you are! That’s all.

I consistently get a lot of hits from Australia myself. In fact, about the only country I haven’t got any from is Burundi. I can only assume that’s because there are no computers there… or no one left alive to operate them. I did get one from Rwanda, though. You go figure!
